Biography[]

Background information[]

Born on November 3, 1966 in Boston, Massachusetts, nothing is known of Coburn's life until he entered into the Air Force Academy in Colorado at the age of 18. There he was trained to use an M9 Beretta pistol, an M4 Carbine rifle, as well as a Barrett M82A1 .50 caliber sniper rifle before entering into the 101st Airborne Division. Coburn later served as part of Operation Desert Storm, having been assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) commandos in 1991 which were part of the Army's First Special Operations Task Force. In this function, Coburn's special operations unit were parachuted behind the enemy lines where they performed both reconnaissance as well as direct action missions throughout the entire conflict. In addition to this, Coburn was temporarily assigned to a special Combat Weather Team whose duties were to collect weather intelligence data during these special operations. Coburn himself had the dangerous job of patrolling an area ahead of his troops' major missions, collecting and disseminating information about the conditions and state of the enemies forces before his unit helped augment the missions.
