TORONTO – Having just sold Ilana Frank’s medical drama Saving Hope to NBC, Entertainment One on Thursday said it has extended its first-look TV deal with the veteran Canadian producer and her production shingle, Ilana Frank Films.
The new three-year deal continues a relationship begun in 2008, and which includes another Ilana Frank-created U.S. network drama for Entertainment One, ABC’s Rookie Blue.
The Canadian cop drama, now in its third season, is executive produced by Frank and her longtime partner David Wellington, and also airs in Canada on Global Television.
The latest first-look deal covers all TV projects developed or controlled by Frank.
NBC recently ordered the Toronto hospital drama Saving Hope, starring Erica Durance and Michael Shanks, to debut on June 7, simultaneous with a Canadian airdate on the CTV network.
“Ilana is one of the leading North American independent producers, and we are delighted to continue our partnership with her,” John Morayniss, CEO of Entertainment One Television, said in a statement.
Entertainment One’s current production slate includes The Firm for NBC, Global Television and Sony’s AXN Channels, Syfy’s Haven, also for Global Television and Universal Networks International, and AMC’s Hell on Wheels.
