This is the Asuran Antaeus capital ship and will function as a siege capital. The design is from the Stargate Redemption film project. I built this model with reference taken from the existing Antaeus model by Epytronomega and images from the Redemption project. It's 19880 triangles
This brings back memories, oh the days when i played with this exact model, beefing up its polys for the giggle. I'm astounded this isn't in the mod after all these years. I see the polys have been increased to a nice amount that doesn't break the engine. It seems the engine design was kept. That is great to see.
The ship was actually in game already but without UVs and the only model we had was a triangulated one that had gone through convertXSI. It's really umpleasant to UV map those since there are many errors from the conversion and a lack of good edge flow from triangulation.. The mesh above is a complete rebuild.
Anyway, initially I wanted to make a high poly subd version for baking but came to the conclusion that it would be way too much work. MODO finally has angle controls for the Rounded Edge shader so I went in and did this model with a Tor Frick sort of workflow and the rounded edge shader to give it a high poly look. Works quite well and is a hell of a lot less time consuming.
Now that the mesh is ready I'm just optimizing it a bit for texturing and will UV map it so we can texture it.
